Dr. Janet Soller teaches piano, theory, including AP Music Theory tutoring, beginning singing classes for ages 11 and under. She specializes in teaching children to read piano music with excellent technique and rhythm skills from the start. Dr. Soller’s teaching experience spans pre-kindergarten through graduate-level and post-graduate professional credential training. Dr. Soller has taught music for Pre-K through 8th grade in private schools on both the east and west coasts, has taught piano students of all ages, as well as college and graduate courses. Active in many professional associations, Dr. Soller is a member of the Music Teacher’s National Association and National Federation of Music Clubs. She is a published scholarly and trade author in the fields of music education, the gifted and talented arena, and educational program management. She was elected to Pi Kappa Lambda, the honor music society. Trained at the Peabody Conservatory with Julio Esteban and the Royal Northern College of Music, England, with Majorie Clementi, Dr. Soller earned her degree Bachelor of Music at Southwestern University, Master of Music at Southern Methodist University, and her PhD at American University. Dr. Soller’s master’s thesis was about teaching piano to four-year olds. She approaches teaching each child with joy and the experience that develops the thinking mind, ear, and body.
